- Conviviality
It is important to have skills as a ‘people person’. You will be surrounded with people that will assist you in building and operating your business, not to mention the people that will comprise of your clientele. Honoring and nurturing these relationships will be a priority.

The verdict is in and you know and feel you have the skills to be an entrepreneur. It is now time to formulate what it is you are going to do or what you are going to offer. This sounds simpler than it often is.
Perhaps you have already decided upon what it is that you are going to do. You might also already have notions of exactly how you are going to go about it and what it is that you are going to offer.
It is important that before going full steam ahead with your monetary and physical investment into this notion, that you do market research. You need to be certain that there is indeed a market niche for what it is that you are going to offer. An endeavor as involved as opening a business takes not your personal desire, beliefs and skills, but it also calls for a market demand. That should lead you to ask yourself if you do indeed know the market demand.
There are a few ways to help you determine what that market demand is. These are not the only ways to determine the market demand but it is a good way to start.
• Develop a questionnaire. Ask a few detailed questions to a group of people that fit the demographic of your potential clients. Ask them what they think about your potential business.
• Talk to retailers. See if the would be willing to or what would be a deciding factor in changing their current distributors.
• Take the time and monetary initiative to register for an expo. Make samples of your product or introduce and explain your service. Try to do the same at many different venues.
• Do some research about your service or product. Conduct research from many different resources and analyze the future tendencies and the past performance. Reach out to professionals in the field and pick their brains.
• Discover as many statistical facts available about the field that you are entering.
• Not only should you speak to those that currently work in your field, you should also speak with those outside of your field. They will all be able to give you some insight into the positives and negatives of the field. Some may also be able to give some good advice about the challenges of being an entrepreneur.
You have come to the conclusion that you have chosen the correct field but now you need to be sure that you have a good mix of talent and know-how to make your business a reality. Know what your good at and know what needs improving and how to make the most of the skills that you do have. Here are a few things that you can do to make sure that you are ready to start your new venture.
• There are questionnaires available in publications, online, and through seminars that can help you determine your compatibility and skill level in your particular field.
• Make a 10 year plan for yourself. Determine if your business is a part of that 10 year plan. In order to excel in business you need to be committed and determined at the same level you are now, 10 years from now.
• Find someone experience in the field to give you advice and or guide you on your path. Find a person that will be willing to show you the ropes and to share some of their knowledge with you. This should not be very difficult as those successful in business have usually had someone reach out and advice them as well.
• Educate yourself in all the aspects of entrepreneurship. There are many different areas of business that an entrepreneur must be familiar with. Planning, selling, and buying are just a few. You must also have financial, legal and tax knowledge. This is a lot to know and it is important that if you lack knowledge in an area that you educate yourself. There are many avenues to receive this training whether it is through seminars, books, websites, or classes. Your local government offers assistance in most places.
• Go into business with someone. You can push and help each other reach your goals. Two heads can be better than one and you can divide and conquer according to who is better at what. Make sure that you know your business partner well and that you are able to easily communicate with them. Make sure that they want the same outcome and have the same business goals that you do. Make a clear and concise contract stating each of your responsibilities and commitments. This will be very important if problems arise in your business relationship or in the case that one partner desires to buy out the other.
